WESTFIELD, NJ — Roosevelt Intermediate School 7th grader Frederique “Freddy” Daneault is just 13 and is getting ready for the trip of a lifetime.
Daneault, who has been playing baseball since before her family moved to Westfield in 2017, is leaving on Dec. 6 for Costa Rica. She is one of just 12 girls selected for both baseball and leadership skills to be an ambassador and represent the United States with Baseball For All, a national girls baseball league.
The girls will play a minimum of six games, and will be the only all-girls team in the week-long Central American tournament. They will also be distributing donated baseball equipment in Costa Rica during their stay.
